Broader Horizons is a U.K. based travel agent and tour operator. It is a highly specialized travel company, only providing and retailing tours in areas that it knows thoroughly.

Registered in 2008, the company was originally set up to provide a level of financial security for clients travelling to East Africa on Ranger Safari Tour holidays. Through membership of the Travel Trust Association, bookings made through Broader Horizons are financially protected by the European Package Travel Regulations. Thus when booking a safari through Broader Horizons, you get the best of both worlds: the security of a UK travel agent and the knowledge and skill of a local tour operator.

Founder and director, Russell Peake, brings his personal knowledge of East Africa to the operation. Having travelled substantially in the region, he has intimate knowledge of the highlights, disappointments and workings of tourism in Uganda and Tanzania.

So how is Cornwall involved in this?

This is a second branch of Broader Horizons, one that has nothing to do with Africa other than our shared passion and an outdoor nature. The holidays and guided walks offered in Cornwall are organized under our trading name ‘Western Discoveries’.

Western Discoveries has a simple aim: to give you a great time discovering the real Cornwall. Whether it’s a week long holiday or a couple of hours on the moors, we want to show you the county that we are so proud of.

Our personalised tours and holidays are designed to bring you the best, most interesting and most beautiful of Cornwall’s charms. Hassle free visits along well trodden paths and quiet corners reserved for local knowledge are our speciality. Local knowledge is paramount if you want to make the most of what Cornwall has to offer and this is where we excel. Having grown up in the region and covered a good part of the county a good many times on foot and by car, Russell developed an understanding and intimacy with Western Cornwall that now forms the basis of Western Discoveries. From the geology to legends of the giants that lie underneath the granite hills, he has the local knowledge to make a Cornish tour special.

Our self led walking holidays make use of B&Bs that we visit personally, our itineraries are planned along routes that we have walked ourselves and everything is designed to add a personal touch that makes your walking holiday special. Our tours and walks are marked by the same personal touch and an intimacy that is difficult to beat.
